What To Wear To Stave Off The Wintertime Blues
My love of sequins gets amplified as the weather gets colder--I think it has to do with my seasonal affective disorder. Sparkles are just happy-making, and since according to the Farmer's Almanac this is supposed to be an especially brutal winter, I'll take all the mood enhancement I can get.
This bed jacket from Urban Outfitters seems like just what I need. The all-over sequins are definitely glitzy, but in black you don't run the risk of looking too Liberace-ish. The boxy fit and cropped sleeves have a ladylike, 60's-ish feel, like something you can imagine Betty Draper slipping on for a cocktail party. To keep the vibe modern, I'd probably wear this more casually--I like the combo of jeans, tee, and tousled hair that the model's got going on here.
