Comme des Garcons and The Beatles Come Together
Fashion designers have long been inspired by musicians. Alexander McQueen based his Target collection on The Duke Spirit's frontwoman, Marc Jacobs has Madonna, and Karl Lagerfeld has found muses in everyone from Amy Winehouse and Beth Ditto to (most recently) Lily Allen. With her latest collaboration, Rei Kawakubo--the iconic, envelope-pushing designer behind Comme desGarcons--is joining their ranks.
Kawakubo is working with Apple Corps Ltd., the company that manages The Beatle's legacy and music catalog, on a line of clothing and accessories that pay homageto the band, who celebrate their 40thanniversary this year.Prices for the collection range from $115 (for a tee) to $860 (for a PVC bag). The pieces will debut in Tokyo on November 20th, and will launch a week later in London. According to WWD, "future commercial rollout"--aka when the collection will appear in the US--is planned for 2010.-Alisa Gould-Simon
