You Asked, We Got Alex Wang To Answer...

Last week, the very busy Alexander Wang was at Barneys on Madison Avenue making his first of just two personal appearances to pre-sell his spring 2010 collection (side note: he strolled through the front door of the department store en route to the event like one of us regular people--love that). We sat down with him amongst the studded bags, zippered sandal boots and some very covetable jackets to get the answers to some of the questions you submitted via Twitter.

Lucky: I love how you take a classic piece like a moto jacket or white shirt and give it a very cool twist. What are your three favorite classic items for spring 2010?

Alex: "I think the trench will be a really strong piece that almost anyone can wear and KEEP for a very long time. Another item would have to be our leopard wedge. Shoes are something that most everyone can wear and feel sexy in. And I always love the idea of a sweatshirt but reinvented, like our sweatshirt that we made into a kimono wrap.

Lucky: Where do you get inspiration for your edgy looks?

Alex: "Edgy? Well I don't necessarily think of that exact term when I am designing, rather I think of a girl who wants to be an individual. I am most inspired by the simple things in life, the ideas of life not being so glamorized."

Lucky: Will you be doing any designer diffusion lines or collaborations in the near future?

Alex: "Not as of now. I want to focus on our brand for the moment, and if we do anything collaboration wise, it will be something that we have never done before."
