A New and Totally Excellent J. Crew Collaboration
On J. Crew's site just now I noticed they're stocking exclusive laptop cases by Want Les Essentiels de la Vie, a Canadian-based line that specializes in obsession-worthy travel accessories. Want, which I first came to love for their amazing leathers, gorgeous craftsmanship, and ultra-refined aesthetic, has debuted organic cotton pieces for the retail chain--right in time to make it onto my Christmas list.
This sleek computer case is thoughtfully and beautifully executed. The silhouette is really slim, yet inside there are a bunch of pockets to store all you need on the go, from cell phone to business and credit cards to passport to notepad to loose change (there's a zippered compartment too). The leather is sustainably produced in Norway, and the exterior is done in fine Turkish organic cotton that's reinforced with Teflon fiber to make it that much more durable. And style-wise, it's simple and classic so I can't imagine ever getting sick of it, and if you pay attention to detail it also looks quite luxe. It's a big investment at $285, but for someone who travels a ton and/or takes their laptop to business meetings, this is as polished and professional (and exceptionally well-made) as these things come.
They're also doing this iPhone holder. Whereas most cell phone cases tend to look cheap and/or bulky, this is the one of the few I've come across that doesn't detract from the slick design of the actual device. It's made of the same plush materials as the computer sleeve, and there are also interior pockets here so it can double as a wallet when you want to travel light. There are several colors to choose from--I'm loving this bright mustard. What's with All the Spam in the Comments Section?
