My Favorite Recession Side Effect

I saw a formerly blond-ish friend the other day who now has Recession Hair--i.e., un-highlighted and un-cut for the past 9 months. A word to the wise: If the difference between your base color and your highlights is minimal, the super-grown-out-roots look is kind of amazing--it's has a cool, beachy, surfer-y ombreeffect--and the best part about it is you achieve it by DOING NOTHING. And by spending NO money.

And I mean, if both Lou Doillon AND Alexa Chungare doing it (and by "doing it" I mean "not doing it"), then you're in good company. Right?
