The Journey's End

This is pretty pathetic: Almost exactly a year ago, I blogged about my nine-month-long quest for a new alarm clock. And guess what? I still hadn't bought one, until about 43 minutes ago, when I finally found the perfect solution.

For something that absolutely has to be displayed, there's a surprising dearth of good looking options. I don't like digital, but need a visible LCD (I wake up a lot in the middle of the night, thanks to the addition of two adorable kittens from the Clifton Animal Shelter*). And I've found that I can't actually wake up to the radio, either, otherwise NPR commingles with my dreams and I arrive at work thinking that a man gave birth to a unicorn--or that's there's world peace.

Anyway, I've finally found just the thing--beautiful, simple, with a loud alarm and LCD illumination. I might, in fact, make this my holiday gift.

* Our kittens are really rad, which makes it even more heartbreaking that their three siblings have yet to be adopted (one tiger boy and two all-black girls). If you're in the market for a cat, ask for Mira's Kittens at the Clifton Animal Shelter.
