My New Year's Resolution
So I seem to be in the habit of dispensing advice that I myself, can't keep. For example, I know that when shopping for shoes you should always go at the end of the day when your feet are a tad swollen, you should walk around in those heels in an area that's not carpeted, and you shouldn't negotiate with yourself when it comes to size. If they don't fit, they don't fit. And yet, I still succumb, often with really bizarre justifications like...that if I ever have a kid, my feet will grow half a size...!!! "If I ever" are words that should be banned from all shopping expeditions.
In this bright, new year, I've vowed to change my ways. To be fair, I seem to buy shoes that are a bit too big, rather than too small (an easier problem to fix), but as I was clopping around the office the other day in heels that I was nearly kicking off with every step (seriously, I felt like a toddler in her mother's stilettos, and this after I stuffed Kleenex into the toe boxes), I wanted to wring my own neck. Granted, I almost don't regret the purchase--they were the last pair in all the land of these printed red velvet Marc Jacobs pumps from several years ago--but still...it's ridiculous!
To mitigate this, I'm only using sites that offer sorting by size (like Piperlime, Endless, etc.) so that I'm not longer sucked in by the siren song of a shoe that's a bit too small or big. Incidentally, Piperlime is having a big sale right now, which led me to this London Fog rain boot - kind of chic, right? And while these aren't exactly like my unwearable Marc Jacobs pumps, this pair of red stilettos from Pour La Victoire could be a good replacement. They have a very convenient review function too, which lets you rank whether they run true to size--helpful!
Any of you guys have any fashion-related New Year's Resolutions? I'm also swearing off buying clothing because I think it's "funny." Don't ask.
