Reporting from Brazil: Shopping in Sao Paulo
Lucky accessories editor Melissa Lum files from the top shows at Sao Paulo Fashion Week.
With about an hour to spare in my hectic schedule, I finally managed to squeeze in some shopping. If you're ever in Sao Paulo, these boutiques are must-sees. All located along Oscar Freire (the Sao Paulo equivalent to Fifth Avenue or Melrose), these Brazilian boutiques are little gems in the midst of luxury retailers such as Louis Vuitton and H. Stern.
First stop: Forum.
This modern and airy shop is home to only three (but all fabulous) lines: Tufi Duek, FORUM Tufi Duek, and house label FORUM. They carryeverything from Duek's runway pieces, shoes, and handbags, to their ownwell-cut denim.
Next up is Blow Up, a homey boutique housing their own apparel andfootwear label as well as shoes by Brazilian designers Luiza Barcelosand GVD. Blow Up carries chic shift dresses, printed jerseyseparates, and sweet ballet flats.
Melissa's shoe emporium is impossible to miss. The graffiti-printedexterior welcomes you into PVC heaven. Candy-colored shoes line thewalls in this gallery-like space. Here you can buy all things Melissaas well as their designer collaborations.
Amarilis is a cozy little boutique nestled on the block selling theirnamesake brand. The racks are filled with party dresses, femininefrocks and a hand picked assortment of shoes and bags.
Last but not least is Teca. This bi-level store based out of Rio deJaneiro is filled with florals, ruffles, and stripes--all displayed onantique furnishings and easy-to-browse vignettes. There's hardly anitem in this shop you wouldn't want in your closet.
