Sneak Peek: Cynthia Rowley for Roxy

Last night, a preview of Roxy's latest collaboration with designer Cynthia Rowley brought some much-appreciated sunshine to Soho. Cynthia Rowley for Roxy, with its sporty sensibility and tropically pastel palette of aqua, pink, and key lime green, fit right in with the surrounding larger-than-life photos of surfers on some windswept shore.

The collection is a fun-house-mirror inversion of form and function within the wetsuit-and-board-shorts world of surfwear (Rowley's been surfing for years). We loved the classic-looking ballet flats made of neoprene--perfect for beach combing (or deeper-than-expected city puddles) and the sexy black cut-out bathing suit.

Just one item from the line, like this neoprene minidress, would update your wardrobe for 2010 trends like techno fabricsand color blocking. At the preview, the collaborative line was styled with pieces from Cynthia Rowley's flagship collection to show how such sporty pieces could easily be integrated into a variety of looks. You could easily wear a piece like the zip-front bandeau suit to the beach and then throw a skirt and sequin cardigan on over it for evening.

Best of all are the prices, which are reasonable enough that you don't have to choose between the ballet flats (expected to retail for $69) and the equally awesome, geo-print wedge sandals ($98). And despite the affordable prices, designer details still remain, likea shark tooth motif repeated everywhere from jewelry to zipper pulls to sandal thongs.

Cynthia Rowley for Roxy lands exclusively in Barneys New York and Colette in Paris this April, eventually rolling out to Roxy stores around the world. Prices range from $13 to $180.
