Backstage at Vena Cava: Punk Equestrienne
MAKEUP: The VC girls wanted it to look like the models had been out horseback riding all day (I would like to see a marauding pack of models on ponies), so the look was flushed, dewy, a tiny bit sunburnt: Bright cream blush (an as-yet-to-be-released MAC color called Orange Alarm--but Optimistic Orange will do for now) across cheeks and the bridge of the nose, and a shiny, clear gloss (any will do) on lids, the inner corners of the eyes, and a little on cheekbones.
That awesome matte lip, btw, is the straight "red" pigment from theMac Pro Lipmix collection.
HAIR: More horse inspiration! Side part, a low ponytail secured with a thick black leather band, and crazy-long clip-in extensions--both normal colors and fluorescent pink ones. Ted Gibson roughed up the texture with hairspray, so it would look like the riding helmets just came off.
NAILS: A custom blend created last night (but it'll be out online in a coupla months, I'm told). Butter London manicurist Noni Creme (yes, her real name) started with a straight burgundy, then "punked it out a bit"--with a bunch of black, a bunch of navy, and a milky white pigment--until it was a gritty, murky, gray-purple. The official name, just decided: "Marrow." Which beat out "Sediment" and "Rotten."
