Fashion Week Scorecard: 3.1 Phillip Lim
The Show: 3.1 Phillip Lim
The Scene: The Tent, Bryant Park
The Celebs: Alexa Chung, Irina Lazareanu sporting this silver sequin-tastic slouchy coat dress from Lim's spring '10 collection, fellow designer Richard Chai, painter Ann Duong
The Models: '70s-style peachy brown natural makeup; lightly curled and feathered (yes feathered!) hair. Even those with short crops got a Farrah-style flip.
The Look: Disco Punk. Black leather lace-up biker jackets paired with mohair bell-bottom jeans for those with super-long legs; leather-trimmed camel coats, pretty poet blouses, and flouncy asymmetrical skirts for the rest of us. Lim didn't put too much skin on show for a Studio 54-style evening outing--there were many below-the-knee swishy dresses in sequins and chiffon, and gold and black tuxedo pantsuits were the focus--though higher-than-high ankle-strap glitter heels kept the longer sleeves and hemlines from looking too Golden Girl -esque.
What We Loved: The flouncy hanky hem miniskirts and dresses in wool flannel or fluffy mohair; a black leather and camel sheepskin-paneled jacket that we will be saving our pennies for; and chic giraffe-print pants and motorcycle jackets.
