Fashion Week Scorecard: DKNY
The Show DKNY
The Scene: Donna Karan's carriage house in the West Village next to her Urban Zen store where she was offering guests five minute reiki treatments
The Look: As always, NYC was Donna Karan's muse for her DKNY collection. This season, it was the Big Apple by way of Berlin. Karan looked to the Bauhaus school for the color-blocked grid prints that covered everything from knits to suiting separates. To this she added oversize art nouveau florals, sequins, leather, and shearling. The shapes were young and chic with great pleated miniskirts, boyfriend coats and vests that were both classic and cool, and her signature fitted blazers--the best of which was leather-trimmed. The palette--heather gray, camel, bluebird blue, port, cognac--felt just right for fall. The shoes, stiletto heel lace-up platforms in a patchwork of the aforementioned colors (with a few added studs), lent the perfect urban edge.
The Models: Glow-y and youthful with low sideponytails, brown lips, and a dusting of brown shadow
What We Loved: The aviator shearling zip vest and the checked miniskirt suits
