Fashion Week Scorecard: Zac Posen
The Show: Zac Posen
The Scene: Posen has dramatically toned down his shows from his former Thursday evening Bryant Park extravaganzas (no more waiting for P. Diddy, in the front row, to get his champagne so the show could start). For the second season, the designer chose a Monday 9 AM time slot at the much smaller and more low-key Altman building. There was little in the way of set design other than a wide-plank wooden runway.
The Music: DJ Cassidy spinning with the live accompaniment of concert violinist Miri Ben Ari
The Celebs: Ellen von Unwerth, Veronica Webb, Patricia Field
The Models: Coco Rocha, Alek Wek, new, young it-model Jacquelyn Jablonski, and the always-entertaining Anna Cleveland (daughter of '70s supermodel Pat Cleveland)
The Look: Along with the more understated venue came a collection that was more wearable and day-appropriate than Posen's normal red carpet glam-a-thon. There were great trousers in a variety of leg widths, his signature swingy skirts and dresses, equally coveted curve-conscious dresses, and what my grandmother used to call "fun furs"--colorful and fluffy styles that included a chevron stripe fox coat with matching Clydesdale-esque fur stilettos (pictured below). Even without the over-the-top gowns, Zac's girls still looked like they were out for a good time.
