This Season, Fashion Week Will Be Carbon Neutral

It's easy to forget that the gazillion fashion people descending on New York City for Fashion Week will be using a lot of energy--and leaving behind a decent amount of trash. Fortunately, the event's sponsor, Mercedes-Benz, has announced that this season Fashion Week will be carbon neutral. We'll tell you exactly what that means after the jump.

How? First, all recyclable materials will be collected and removed. The big deal, though, is that the event's carbon footprint has been measured, and Mercedes-Benz will purchase that amount of carbon credits "that will be invested in CO2 reduction projects such as reforestation and renewable energy."
