The Perfect Sailor Tee: Buy It Now, Get It Just In Time For Summer

It's finally starting to warm up, and after months of being buried under layers of down, wool, and cashmere, I can't stop fantasizing about what I'm going to wear this spring. Nautical striped shirts are always pretty heavy in my rotation, but get non-stop play when it's nice out. I thought I was planning ahead by logging onto L.L. Bean to stock up on more of their excellent French sailor t-shirts, and as it turns out, they're so in demand I won't receive my order until just in time for summer.

I've tried many a sailor tee, and yet I always come back to this one. It's simple and timeless, with a wide boatneck, three-quarter lengthsleeves, and a fit that's relaxed but still feminine--a lot of the onesI've tested are cut more boxy, which is less flattering. It's made of asoft, Peruvian cotton that doesn't fade over time. The material is alittle thicker than your average tee, which is actually nice to givethe shirt some body. There are a bunch of colors to choose from thoughit doesn't get more classic than the cream with navy stripes, and youcan't beat the price at $29.50. Apparently a lot of people out there share my obsession: all sizes are sold out throughmid-May, if not June. I suggest placing an order soon before they getbackordered even further.
