The Right Kind Of Compliment
Jean's post on the wrong kind of compliment got me thinking about the other kind--the one you get from someone who doles them out pretty sparingly. I have a friend who some people consider blunt (a recent quote: "Your skin looks kind of dry. What's going on there?"), but who I find refreshing in that I pretty much always know what she's thinking, so when she raves about something, I must be doing it right.
When I met up with her on a recent rainy day, she peered at me and then asked, "How can your hair look so good in this weather?" The answer is this smoothing serum, which I'd used that morning and, after that review, will definitely be using again.
