My Top 5: Met Ball Dresses

The office has been buzzing all day as we critique each look and pick our favorites from last night's Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. I leaned towards the long-sleeved dresses, in solid neutrals or bright colors, with little to no embellishments.

Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein: Her look is so simple but so elegant--and so very Calvin Klein. Known for his expertise in the way of minimalist fashion, this is a well-executed example--and who better to wear it than the always tasteful Diane Kruger?

Emma Watson in Burberry: The dress has a lot going on, but the fact that it's all white makes it glamorous rather than overly dramatic.

Camilla Belle in Jason Wu: Could she be any more stunning? This silhouette is not easy to pull off, and it looks so perfect on her. The bright red, also difficult to wear, complements her skin tone beautifully. She really is the belle of the ball.

Lauren Santo Domingo in Proenza Schouler: My veryfavorite look of the evening. I lovehow the nude color has a glossy sheen to it. Again, the long sleevesand the slim cut are understated, but utterly chic.

Chloe Sevigny in Proenza Schouler: This is a good instance of looking sexy without showing a lot of skin, and how you don't need flashy jewelry to appear formal. The teal lace accomplishes that on its own. I give props to Chloe for wearing such a bold color, too.
