4 Great Tips From Our Thursday Live Editor Chat With Jen Ford

On Thursday, fashion news director Jen Ford took your questions live on Facebook and Twitter. Click through for some of our favorite topics from the chat--and Jen's easy-to-follow styling tips.

1. StacyLsProtege: Today is my 18th birthday and I'm going shopping. What are some key pieces I should buy for summer ?

Jen Ford:Happy birthday! Some very chic espadrille wedges , a chambray button-down shirt and slouchy silky shorts that you can dress up.

2. thisgirlemily: I'm attending my niece's high school graduation. What would be an appropriate outfit to wear?

Jen Ford:I love a s imple, chic sheath dress in a light pretty color--a little Mad Men-era inspiration.

3. Melissa Ba: What is your best style tip for looking pulled together in the hot, humid south?

Jen Ford:Hi Melissa! Good question (and one I was tackling last week when it was 90 degrees and swelteringly humid here in NYC). Personally, I love a little black dress in the summer accented with either brights (like a bold pink strappy sandal), or gold accessories for some sunny bling.

4. Casey Cohen: Besides a blazer and heels, can you suggest some ways to dress up jeans for casual Fridays at work?

Jen Ford:Hi Casey! Check out a line of silk button-down shirts from Equipment--they look so chic and dressy with jeans. Revolveclothing.com just got a few in stock; and I also did a blog post on luckymag.com about the line if you want to check it out there, too! And instead of heels you could wear lace-up oxfords. Another look I love with jeans for casual Friday is layering two chic cardigans. It has the effect of a shirt and jacket combo and you can have fun with pretty color and print combinations.
