What Lucky Editors Were Up To This Weekend

Nicola Miller, Senior Associate Fashion Editor

I went to the beach with my girlfriends hoping to wear my new Lisa Curran bikini, but sadly it rained the entire weekend. Other activities included:

1. Reading Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls for my book club,

2. cooking--and eating!--a lobster feast (pictured left), and

3. playing Scrabble.

Despite the aforementioned weather issues, I got to try out my new one-piece swimsuitfor the first time hanging out with friends in Sagaponack. There'sdefinitely something chicly retro about lounging around in pool wearthat isn't held on by strings--and I felt way more comfortable aboutconsuming both a lobster roll from Lunch and a killer plum tart from Loaves and Fishes.

It was finally time again to bring out my Merlottes tee (yes, I own one) and celebrate the return of True Blood ! To fete the occasion, my boyfriend and I cooked up a bloodily-themed feast: delicious steaks with red wine sauce and the most amazing buttermilk cake with red raspberries (which creepily, but I guess appropriately, looked a bit like puncture wounds). The recipe is super easy and insanely delicious--you should totally try it.

On Saturday afternoon, I avoided the humidity by going to the movies. I saw, and thoroughly enjoyed,Please Give : a slice-of-life kind of movie about modern NYC. It stars one of my favorite indie actresses, Catherine Keener (at left), whose effortlessly gorgeous wavy hair in the film made me want to stash my straightening iron for the summer.

I bought a new bike! It's a super-cute sky blue Kent cruiser with a basket on the front for my little dog, Bjorn. We had a blast riding around Manhattan all weekend--such a great way to see the city!
