If Farrow & Ball were a celebrity, I would be in jail. (For stalking.) My creepy obsession with the paint company began years ago, when I somehow got ahold of a small brochure detailing its not-so-many colors.

Not so many because they're so particular, the brochure seemed to imply. I kept it on my bedside table; I pored over it every night. I got a friend involved. Our favorite color was Mouse's Back. "Could you see that table in Mouse's Back?" I'd wonder. "What would happen if you painted an entire house Mouse's Back?"

Then it was on to Arsenic. Then Calamine. To say that I forced this friend to discuss Farrow & Ball paints endlessly is a bald understatement; the topic loitered in the pauses of our every conversation, busting back into the spotlight with the force of the inevitable.

When I moved into a new house, I gave in fully to my obsession. The dining room is Babouche; the front door is Hague Blue; touches of Arsenic are everywhere. I am living my dream, truly.

The dream has recently improved in a way even I could never have envisioned: My all-time most loved scent in the world, Lime Basil & Mandarin from Jo Malone (when I am sick, I attempt to cure myself by soaking in a bath of the oil), has a new package--a Farrow & Ball package.
