Karl Lagerfeld Cancels His Fashion Show! A New Diffusion Line In The Works!

Major breaking fashion news: Karl Lagerfeld announced yesterday that he has canceled his Paris show, which was scheduled for October 3, and is instead working on a lower-priced ready-to-wear collection that will...wait for it...be sold primarily online.

"It will be something affordable for lots of people," the designer told WWD. "I wanted this for a long time."

Scant details have been revealed. All we know right now is that the Kaiser is focusing on women's clothes and that this new effort will include jeans and sportswear--as Karl put it, "everything."

Why the major shift in focus? Lagerfeld believes that he has a certain responsibility to bring his designs to the masses, saying, "I feel that it is almost a duty to do this with my name: it's the way to modernity."
