Whitney Port Launches An Exclusive Capsule Collection For Piperlime

On Wednesday night at Piperlime's pop-up shop in Soho, reality TV star-turned-designer Whitney Port launched an exclusive 14-piece capsule collection for the e-tailer. Whitney Eve for Piperlime, a mix of jackets, dresses, and tops, is currently available online and prices range from $129 to $328.

"We used the framework of the fall 2010 collection and we just changed things up a bit," she said of her inspiration for the pieces. In fact, the cute minidress she was wearing was originally a floor-length gown. "We were just like 'chop it up,' because obviously it decreases the price by half and it becomes a whole different look. So we did little changes like that."

Port explained how designing for her own label (she just showed her spring 2011 collectionduring New York Fashion Week) was different than for Piperlime. "[With Piperlime,] I had a whole team that was helping me design," she said. "So I had a whole other checks and balances part of the the process."

Since she's not currently filming the next season of The City (Port revealed that the series is "on hiatus" but would say little else), the star has had ample time to promote Whitney Eve, like on a recent trip to Tokyo. "I was doing a fashion show out there," she explained. "I just got back two days ago and it was such a cool experience. Travel is a learning experience you never get from anything else."

What do you think of the Whitney Eve for Piperlime collection?
