Trend Spotting: Stolen from The Superhero, The Cape
If your best guy friend doesn't understand why you own harem pants--much less, why they're actually cool--you'll identify with Leandra Medine's hilarious blog, manrepeller.com. It's a diary of her unfailing devotion to high fashion, her willingness to try edgier looks, and...how her oufits are received by the opposite sex. We've asked her to blog for us all week on Lucky Right Now.
It's no big secret that capes have been among the most popular looks to surface this fall, and while they aren't the warmest of outerwear choices, the trend seems to be following us into the colder days of winter. Before we dissect this, it's important to note that capes date back beyond Batman's animated heyday. Elvis Presley, the King, rocked the cape. One of Man Repeller's most chronic offenders, Carrie Bradshaw, did too.
Today though, we'll look to style blogs for cape-spiration in our united quest to showcase our inner Man Repellers.
Image via FashionisingIt all started in Paris during this past Fashion Week. And because this particular event in this particular city is basically the Olympics of Man Repelling, I wasn't at all surprised to see that Anna Selezneva was ahead of the curve, donning the shapeless silhouette months before the rest of us would.
Image via Style CopycatI adore this look, but then again, I'm a Man Repeller. The Navajo print on her cape complements the pattern on her T-shirt well.
Image via SartorialistOh, Scott Schuman. You never fail to disappoint. Nothing heats my loins more than a trench cape ... except for a hat made of gloves! What are the chances that this woman has a man friend? I'm betting slim to none.

This should put to rest any speculations you may have had about a cape's power to repel the opposite sex. Note that this woman is getting street-style photographed while yet another street-style photographer is taking the shot we are looking at.Not even my guide to get street snapped could accomplish this. Kudos.
