We Camped out for Lanvin and Survived to Tell the Tale! : Lucky Magazine

After weeks of anticipation, the Lanvin for H&M collaboration has finally hit stores! We camped out on the sidewalk in front of our local H&M to get first dibs on the collection--click through to hear how it went and what we snapped up.

Two guys from the Topshop store across the street arrived shortly after we did and we made fast friends. We made a deal to hold each others' spots in line and took turns going on coffee runs throughout the night. Given the cold and wind, it felt like we were spending the night on Mt. Everest.

As the sun rose, our anticipation grew as we waited for the color-coded wristbands that would soon be handed out--each color corresponded to a 15-minute time slot and 20 people would be let in at a time to shop the women's collection. The H&M staff finally came outside, distributed some much appreciated hot coffee and croissants, and gave out the wristbands and free Lanvin-designed totes containing bright red wool scarves.

The doors finally opened and we were the first to be let in. We ran down the stairs to the small sectioned-off area containing the women's collection. Dana sprinted straight for her beloved leopard-print wristlet and immediately grabbed the only two that the store had in stock. Thank goodness we were first in line! We both scooped up the floral chain-strap bag (gorgeous!), both T-shirts (adorable!) and sunglasses. Alex also got multiple tubes of her dreamed-about lipstick.

We headed back upstairs to check out the men's collection and most of the pieces were already gone! Somewhat delirious and sleep-deprived, we were out of the store with our bags in hand before 9 am.

It was quite the experience and well worth the wait in the cold ... but we have both vowed never to do something like this again (well, unless Balenciaga or Celine decides to do a lower-priced line).
