We Went for Alexa; We Stayed for Guillaume

Here at Lucky we've made no bones about being extremely excited about the relaunch of storied French label Carven (as our January cover with Kate Bosworth made abundantly clear). Last night, we shuttled over to Barneys in the frigid cold for a peek at the full fall collection, at a trunk show hosted by none other than our no-longer-ombre-haired but decidedly-now-a-brunette style icon Alexa Chung.

Teenage girls awaiting Alexa huddled in corners, Simon Doonan chatted with fab ladies in furs, Barneys' newly appointed creative director Amanda Brooks snapped iPhone photos of her favorite dresses, and we nibbled on delicious mini food as we waited to chat with designer Guillaume Henry. He is, in a word, charming. In addition to loving the Lucky support, he told us that he is outrageously excited about the upcoming show in Paris, is dying to dress Natalie Portman and is next tackling a new Carven scent--a tall order as fragrance was the heart of the brand for years (a quick eBay search yields quite a few results for vintage bottles of Ma Griffe, the house's signature scent). While we didn't leave with the coveted royal blue double-breasted jacket we've had our eye on, we did get a personal invite from Mr. Henry himself to attend the Carven show in Paris, which we think we'll totally be taking him up on. Merci, Guillaume!
