I think I speak for many people when I say that I was over the royal wedding coverage weeks ago--to me, the morning news was a comedy routine of what-royal-wedding-related-thing-will-they-think-of-next. But I woke up early this morning, totally forgetting today was the day, because my building was turning off the water at 7:30am for water main construction--which is so unglamorous--and then I turned on the TV to see the absolute glamour of Kate and William's glowing faces in a carriage bound for Buckingham Palace.
The gown was so perfectly simple but dreamy, and the hair and makeup certainly fit. I love that she wore her hair down--I think it's modern, youthful, and makes her seem more real despite her now being a princess. Her makeup really reflected what a natural beauty she is: just a bit of rosy cheeks, defined brows (maybe a bit too
defined), and a sweep of shimmery shadow. And while William struggled to slide on her wedding band (I watched the replay, not the real thing), I eyed Kate's perfectly manicured nails. Turns out, she chose the pinky, sheer Essie Allure
--a long-time favorite for brides everywhere (and the go-to for Accessories Director Julia Kalachnikoff).
