Style Session: Rose Byrne
"I once wore a purple chiffon flowy dress to an event in Australia that looked like something from the Great Barrier Reef--horrendous!" she says. As of late though, she's hit the red carpet in a series of stunning ensembles: a floor-skimming, pale pink Ralph Lauren gown for a charity gala, a grown-up-chic Calvin Klein frock at a museum soiree and dressy black vintage shorts paired with a delicate white blouse at a movie premiere. Natural or not, she sure knows how to make it look easy. Here, the actress shares some of her style secrets:
What is your favorite everyday piece?
I have these skinny black jeans from Urban Outfitters that I just live in. I always feel confident and like my best self in them. They go with everything and they're the perfect length and fit.
What are you shopping for right now?
I'm loving all the H&M fall maxis and the long skirts--they're really affordable. I always wear them anyway because I have terrible legs so I'm always in long things. I won't bore you, but legs are not a good feature on me, so in the summer I live in those kinds of dresses.
What are some of your favorite places to shop in New York City?
I love this great boutique called Otte in the West Village. They have a great selection of designers: See by Chloe, Elizabeth and James, Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang--some really pretty stuff. And I like A.P.C.I go in there sometimes and have a splurge. I've been wanting to get to the Isabel Marant store but I'm a little bit scared because I feel I'll break the bank.
Do you shop online?
What makes you feel instantly sexy?
Feeling sexy for me is always a great perfume or a great red lipstick. I've been using Marc Jacobs' Lola fragrance and Nars' Red Lizard lipstick. I change it up every couple months. And this may be really weird but if I go to the gym, I always feel a little better after some exercise.
