Here are a few fun, work-appropriate tops I've seen lately:

I love love love this Vivienne Westwood check blouse. The large gingham print is a fun play on a classic, and the cowlneck, belt and sleeve details are divine. For a conservative office, I'd pair it with a pencil skirt, neutral pumps and small accessories--perhaps even just a pearl stud earring. For a more casual office, I might try it with a pair of ankle-length cigarette pants in a pop of color like red, perhaps accessorized with an accessory in a contrasting color, like a large purple cuff.

A splash of color is always welcome in a blouse--it's perfect for livening up a basic (such as a solid-colored pencil skirt, trousers or even a suit) but it can also be fun to mix with other prints if you're really daring. I love the high neckline of this Trina Turk, as well as the mini-gather on the side.

This white blouse is right in line with the ruffle trend that seems to be everywhere right now, and a trendy take on a white blouse is a must for summer. I like the slight puff to the sleeves, the crisp collar and the option to button it all the way up (even though I think it looks best worn open, styled as it is here).

More basic tops can also be great, as well, whether under a suit blazer, a cardigan, or just worn by themselves.
