10 Best Dressed at the Venice Film Festival
Christina Anderson
Evan Rachel Wood stunned in an ivory floor-length gown by Alexandra Rich. The starlet stood out on the carpet in her dress, but more specifically, the way she held herself in the dress. She took a pure model stance: hips out, leg out and shoulders back. Girls, pay attention: this is how it's done.
Keira Knightley is wearing one of our personal favorites--British designer Mary Katranzou. The signature bold print and midi-length are just what the doctor ordered.
Newcomer Jessica Chastain is on our fashion radar--her blush lace Elie Saab Couture gown complimented her porcelain complexion and bold red lips. Utter perfection.
The effortlessly stylish Gwyneth Paltrow wore a blush-colored custom gown by Prada. Duchesse satin with a drop waist and a full skirt--what a vision. But the true drama was when she turned around, revealing a plunging t-back with bow detail. Simply gorgeous.
The star of Madonna's directorial debut W.E., Abbie Cornish, wore a black and white Gucci satin gown from the resort 2012 collection.
Diane Kruger channeled Cinderella in her Elie Saab Couture gown. The structured beaded bodice and flowing skirt were gorgeous, but it was her loose curls and clean skin that really had us going gaga.
Kate Winslet showed off her toned physique in a black and white body-skimming stretch cotton sheath from fellow Brit Stella McCartney's fall collection.
Madonna has worked with super-stylist and costume designer Arianne Phillips for years. Phillips, responsible for the gorgeous looks in films like Walk the Line and A Single Man, worked her magic on the Material Girl yet again for the red carpet, as well as her new film W.E. At the premiere, she wore a baby blue custom gown with red sequined butterflies by Vionnet. Never one to be conventional, she topped her look with red Miu Miu sunglasses.
Supermodel Natasha Poly stunned in a persimmon Gucci gown from the fall 2011 collection. Yeah, yeah, Jennifer Lopez wore it to the Met Ball, but Poly wore it sans shrug and the simplicity and color of the gown were just right.
Marisa Tomei is back on the scene and we couldn't be happier. The quirky actress is comfortable in her own skin, and it shows in this color blocked Preen look on the red carpet. We applaud her for taking a risk--its nice to see a different silhouette on the red carpet.
