NYFW Spring 2012: Michael Bastian Returns
All hail the return of the jedi, Michael Bastian. After taking a season off for some manufacturing changes, Bastian has returned to New York Fashion Week. We feel it's our duty to keep everybody updated on both sides of the closet, so we joined the menswear mafia to see what the master had up his well-tailored sleeve.
David Essex's "Rock On" set the tone and straight off we were in James Dean territory, which is familiar but always welcome. The show was undeniably nostalgic and had some of Mr. Bastian's specialities—rugby shirts, "real" cargo pants and some killer jackets. It was classic American and in what we hope was a hint, a woman walked down the runway...is a full-blown women's collection in the future? Time will tell.
