NYFW Spring 2012: Pastels, Pixels and Paisley at Preen
Before the Preen show began, there were clues as to what was in store. Along the wall of the IAC center was a screen projecting a mosaic of colors—all in equal squares.
That mosaic pixel pattern hit us right away in the first look, promising a colorful show. The somewhat strict pattern was quickly broken up by ruffled collars and trims and a graphic, Murakami-like paisley print. Eventually, the prints gave way to a series of white looks with pops of neon and finally into a series of navys and blues, before returning to the paisley print in black and white.
We left feeling refreshed, as one feels when spring actually comes. It was ethereal, it was colorful and in a really weird way, it was calming. Job well done.
