NYFW Spring 2012: Phillip Lim Makes Workwear Cool
My first-ever suit was a 3.1 Phillip Lim. It’s a shrunken grey blazer and a tulip skirt decorated with black grosgrain. Six years later, I’m still wearing it.
Why? Because Lim’s clothes keep their charm season after season. His latest collection, a mix of pastel silks, easy jersey and slick accessories, might have been his most cohesive yet. I was particularly fond of the fancy grey sweater with cut-out shoulders—paired with a dove grey leather skirt—as well as the minty green square heels. Everything was saleable, from the perfect tapered silk pants to the swirly pink and black print. Expect to see plenty of 3.1 in your favorite boutiques next season.
