NYFW Spring 2012: Our Top Ten Shows

Boo! Fashion Week is over guys! Despite the limited sleep and random meals (free Kefir and Fiji water anyone?), we're always a little bummed when things wrap up at the Lincoln Center. In our opinion, the designers really turned things up a notch this year: our spring shopping lists are getting longer by the minute. There were so many flawlessly constructed tailored classics. And you have the option between neutrals and crazy brights.

A kind of disco-meets-cowgirl-meets-granny mashup is just the thing we want right now.

The J.Crew girl goes to Europe for spring. She's wearing her favorite preppy basics like colorful slacks and stripey tops, but she's mixing them in with silk pajama blouses, mint green leather bags and 1950s-style day dresses.

All the designer's hallmarks were present, including an astute understanding of color (shades upon shades of violet) and a keen eye for detail—matte sequins, feathers, embroideries and beading.

We left feeling refreshed, as one feels when spring actually comes. It was ethereal, it was colorful and in a really weird way, it was calming. Job well done.

Benz took the idea of an off-kilter-yet-in-control woman to new levels this season. Indeed, we'd go as far to say this was his best collection yet.

Per usual, there was a bit of granny chic in the clothes: we're happy to report that socks with heels will yet again reign this spring, as will plastic-fantastic paillettes.

From the neoprene blazers to the printed house dresses to the wood grain wedges, we want it all.

The most remarkable thing about the show was the color. Listed in the run of show as tangerine, citrus, powder blue, pink techno, shocking fuchsia and grenadine, these energetic shades really popped and felt completely new. Peter has a real gift for color.

Everything was saleable, from the perfect tapered silk pants to the swirly pink and black print. Expect to see plenty of 3.1 in your favorite boutiques next season.
