Dinner at Tiffany's: Baubles & Bubbly with The Glamourai
Last night, I headed to the St. Regis hotel in midtown Manhattan to join The Glamourai's Kelly Framel for a special dinner party to fête Tiffany & Co.'s new eyewear collection. The celebration was held—where else?—in the hotel's Tiffany Suite, where the robin's egg blue walls and glittering chandeliers held most of the group in awe during cocktail hour. In between getting their nails did at Deborah Lippman's mini mani bar, guests like Karla's Closet blogger Karla Deras and Habitually Chic's Heather Clawson discussed their wishful plans to move into the swanky digs for good—too bad the suite runs $8,500 per night.
Later, over scallops and chocolate mousse—all served on Tiffany flatware, naturally—topics ranged from the benefits of personal trainers (Kelly and our own Lauren Sherman swear by 'em, while I count brisk walks as cardio) to the group's collective worship of J.Crew's Jenna Lyons. Our hostess took on the role of historian for the evening, snapping pics with her new Diana Mini camera, while From Me to You blogger Jamie Beck showed off her latest vintage treasure—a black, long-sleeved frock subtly embellished with embroidery and delicate beading.
And while we all drooled over the jeweled sunglasses on display, Kelly let us in on a neat trick: she uses a Sharpie to make costume gems look less precious. "You just color over the stones with the marker, then add a swipe of nail polish remover--and the whole piece looks perfectly aged." Diamonds may be forever, after all, but DIYs can be just as fun.
