Holy Trinity! Cartier's New Collection Throws Us for a Loop

When it comes to jewelry houses that truly respect the notion of heritage, nobody does it quite like Cartier. On Monday night, I headed to Chelsea's Hotel Americano to see the brand's new collection of Trinity baubles, freshly modernized with the inclusion of black ceramic.

First crafted in 1924, the tri-band Trinity ring (now one of Cartier's most iconic designs) was meant to represent the three key components of a relationship: love, fidelity, and friendship. Masterminded in large part by French poet Jean Cocteau, the ring quickly achieved cult status among jewelry lovers the world over—and as evident by the house's latest iterations of the design, it truly does keep getting better. I particularly liked the Trinity Sauvage ring, which includes a leopard-patterned band inspired by Cocteau's own animal-print wallpaper. True luxury lovers, meanwhile, will likely gravitate towards the bangles and pendants shimmering with pavé diamonds.
