Paris Fashion Week 2012: Giambattista Valli Gets Us Dreaming

Giambattista Valli, once head designer at Emanuel Ungaro, now stands very firmly on his own two feet. He launched his first couture collection this summer and his ready-to-wear, which he showed yesterday in Paris, is pretty much couture. He is beloved by both the editorial world and the young starlets who populate his front row from Jessica Alba to Jessica Biel.

Like so many other designers this season, he started with a parade of white dresses and separates.

But make no mistake, his designs—from the delicate feather details on dresses to the exquisite beading on boxy tops—are like nothing else you’ve seen.

Our favorite was a coat that looked like it could’ve been the most decadent dessert you’ve ever seen: silver brocade, pale pink florals with a dash of lemon yellow thrown in. Click through to see the collection.
