Didier Ludot Makes Over the Très Chic LBD for Petit Bateau
No woman should head into the holiday party circuit without at least one perfect little black dress in her closet. This timeless, universally flattering wardrobe classic is a cinch to dress up or down—plus, thanks to its versatility, you can wear it to numerous fêtes without feeling like an outfit repeater.
Just in time for this most shindig-packed of seasons, designer-slash-vintage-aficionado Didier Ludot has created a capsule couture-inspired LBDs for French basics brand Petit Bateau. Inspired by 60s-era silver-screen fixtures (and surely drawing upon some of the fantastic antique finds in his editor-beloved Paris shop), Ludot's petites robes noires feature retro-sweet details like Peter Pan collars, trumpet skirts, and rounded pockets. Take a gander at the Catherine (inspired by Madame Deneuve herself), at top left, and the Twiggy (named for the long-lashed mod goddess) below.
Ludot's designs for Petit Bateau will be available exclusively at petit-bateau.us starting December 5, with prices ranging from $122 to $140 for girls' sizes and from $230 to $266 for womens'.
