Snoods: What They Are and Why You Need Them
In the worst winter blizzards, snow doesn't just come down, it creeps sideways, sneaking beneath even the closest-held umbrella. Sure, knit hats help shield, and so do hooded coats. But not all amazing coats have hoods, and not all heads are hat-head proof (mine certainly isn't).
And that's exactly why snoods are so crazily, ridculously necessary. Similar to an infinty scarf but usually hooded, they'll protect your hair without slipping the way a haphazardly thrown scarf would. Plus, they make such an unexpectedly cool yet totally versatile top layer, you'll want to keep them on even inside. Below, some favorites:
The ultimate, chunky classic.
The perfect burgundy to pair with brown or black.
In case you're not ready to commit to a Fair Isle sweater.
Um, we're obsessed with the name.
Simple black gets an asymmetrical spin.
Since not all winter accessories need to be winter colors.
It takes on a little bit more glamorous feel when rendered in fur.
A gauzy version creates a more delicate look.
