Lucky Star-Crossed: Gwen Stefani and Dree Hemingway in Carven

The celeb best-dressed doppelgangers, they just keep on comin'. Today, we tackle dueling takes on the LBD—that's the long black dress, in this particular case.

Last weekend, platinum-blond songstress and designer Gwen Stefani selected a black taffeta frock from one of our favorite labels, Carven, for the 2011 MOCA Gala in L.A. The dress' asymmetrical cut was perfectly offset by Gwen's sculptural  topknot and bold-colored heels and lips, lending balance to the look.

Meanwhile, at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards earlier this week, model Dree Hemingway chose a slightly slinkier black gown from the same French brand. She paired her tank-style, buckled LBD with Carven platform loafers, organic-looking onyx gems, and an oversized gray clutch.
