Zoe Saldana just cooked up a recipe for a very elusive outfit: the unexpected metallic dress.

Her Gucci  '20s number at Saturday’s LACMA Art + Film Gala bucked the current trend of skin tight sparkly frocks. And it was precisely that retro fit (dolman sleeves, drop waist) that made the look feel so fresh.

With its drapey details, Zoe's Jazz Age metallic number looked way more elegant than any "New Years in Vegas!" sequin slip. All it needs is a loose bun, standby black heels, a swipe of eyeliner and voila.
