Dita Von Teese On Traveling, Primping and Getting Tipsy
Burlesque queen Dita von Teese just launched a genius new accessory for the jet set. It’s a vintage-style hat box that opens up into a Cointreau’ed-out minibar, complete with a list of Dita’s signature cocktails—her favorites are the Margarita and the Sidecar—along with everything you’d need to compose that “just got to my hotel room after a long flight" drink. You know the one. Oddly enough, that includes a perfume bottle to spray just the essence of Cointreau into your drink.
Von Teese also uses hat boxes to store makeup, which she likes to do herself: “I don’t have a glam squad.” Her favorite brands are Guerlain (she likes the antique-y looking perfume bottles and packaging) and MAC.
That signature red lip? Courtesy of Guerlain Exces de Rouge. She loves MAC Vapour eyeshadow and the palettes. And her perfectly set ‘40s hairstyle requires hot rollers, which she travels with, too.
Von Teese lives in Paris, but traveling is a huge part of what she does, so she likes to have fun with it. “I don’t travel lightly, that’s for sure,” she says. Reason enough for a convenient cocktail carry-all. Starting at $680, the travel box is now available at the Mondrian in South Beach and LA and The Royalton in NYC. Also happening this year: Dita’s vintage-inspired dress collection and line of sultry lingerie for the well-endowed is slated to hit stores. My thoughts on chatting with Dita: I’m pretty impressed. If I wore a hat, it would go off to her.
