Reel Style: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
After months of anticipation, David Fincher's chilling adaptation of Stieg Larsson's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo opens nationwide today. I was lucky enough to preview the film on Monday night. It's phenomenal. From Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' electronic-tinged score to lead Rooney Mara's career-making performance, the flick is a holiday must-see.
Of course, special mention must be given to Mara's character Lisbeth Salander's uniquely moody style. Whether she's hacking into a high-security bank's online network or fighting off reprehensible crooks, Salander always looks sharp in a mix of gothic layers and industrial accessories. We've rounded up a selection of pieces we think Lisbeth would love. Embracing fashion might not be the character's M.O., but there's no denying she's cultivated a look that's all her own.
The perfect piece of outerwear for those chilly Swedish nights.
A quartet of buckles toughens up these otherwise basic sneakers.
Roomy enough to fit Lisbeth's laptop, video camera and any other hacking necessities.
Including a piece from H&M's Dragon Tattoo collaboration was a no-brainer, and this quilted leather jacket looks so much more expensive than it really is.
It's a cuff. It's a ring. It looks like a weapon.
You'll live in these basic, beautifully-made moto boots.
Standard scarves can come loose when sprinting away from the bad guys. Snug snoods like this one are a far safer bet.
Nobody (nobody) does tough-looking jewelry quite like Pamela Love.
OK, before you get all "Lisbeth would never wear a skirt!" on me, just look at this Theyskens-designed beauty. If Salander was feeling fancy, she'd wear the hell out of this piece.
Our heroine does have lots of piercings...
The style name pretty much says it all.
Zana Bayne's incredible leather harnesses have Lisbeth's name written all over them.
