Very.com Fêtes its U.S. Launch With Whitney Port and Nicky Hilton
Last night, we headed down to NYC's Soho House to celebrate the site's American launch, where we were greeted in the library with champagne, a glittering Christmas tree and keepsake Polaroids courtesy of celeb stylist Maripol (the woman behind Madonna's Like a Virgin-era look). On hand to host the evening were Whitney Port (whose own collection Whitney Eve is stocked at Very), Nicky Hilton and designer Jeremy Scott, who raised their glasses alongside photographer Nigel Barker and DJ Leigh Lezark.
Before diving into the duck confit and bowls of roasted brussels sprouts, we got a video walkthrough of Very.com's sprawling site. Offering a mix of internationally-known brands and smaller Brit labels (plus an in-house line called Love Label), the e-commerce destination is overflowing with everything from party dresses to outerwear to lingerie. Very's also honed in on the less-explored athleticwear market: there's tons of product perfect for cycling and playing soccer (sorry, football) in. The site says that "it's time for another great British style moment." Between Middleton mania and Alexa Chung's lasting appeal, we think that time has come.
The party really got going when superstar astrologer Susan Miller made a surprise cameo just as dessert was served. We spotted Port and a clump of fashion writers locked in intense conversations with the zodiac-savvy columnist towards the end of the night. Whether they were having their 2012 fortunes mapped out or planning upcoming e-purchases, however, is anyone's guess.
