Anna Dello Russo Wants You to Take "a Fashion Shower"

Fairchild Archive

With Fashion Month just two weeks away, Anna Dello Russo is preparing for the media whirlwind by attending the menswear shows in Italy. Although she has been spotted all over Milan this week—in a different outfit each time, of course—the sartorial fanatic is just warming up.

The Vogue Nippon editor, who is rabidly followed by street style photographers, recently told The New York Times that she sometimes switches outfits up to five times a day. To accomplish such a feat, she admits, "sometimes I change in the car."

Although there are plenty of other industry insiders made famous by photo bloggers, Russo's dedication is hard to match. "Sometimes women say to me, ‘I’m tired, I don’t want to go out. It’s too much effort,'" she told the paper. "And I say to them, ‘You need to take a fashion shower and then you’ll wake up.’ " (Uh, what exactly is a "fashion shower," you ask? Watch the video clip below to find out.)

Although Anna's performance-art level of dressing might be too extreme for you, there's no reason not to bring a little avant-garde to your everyday look. Click through the slideshow below for five pieces that wash the ordinary out of any ensemble.
