Fashion Designers Sell Special Products to Support Barack Obama's 2012 Campaign

The majority of the fashion industry has supported the Obama administration since its 2008 campaign. Influential Vogue editor Anna Wintour has thrown multiple fundraisers for the President, brands continually clamor to dress Michelle and now, a group of fashion companies have created "Runway to Win," an e-commerce site that benefits Obama Victory Fund.

WWD reports
that the site launches this Thursday and will feature limited edition items—including T-shirts, scarves, bracelets and totes—from Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Narciso Rodriguez, Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Rag & Bone, Rachel Roy and Tracy Reece. The project is modeled after the "Runway to Change" project, which helped fund the 2008 Obama campaign.

Many designers, afraid of upsetting Republican clientele, have decided not to participate—regardless of their personal political affiliations. What do you think?
