Fern Mallis: The Fashion Legend Designs Jewelry for QVC
After retiring from the world of runways, Fern Mallis (as in, the woman responsible for creating Mercedes Benz Fashion Week) has kept busy with a Sirus XM radio show ("Fashion Insiders With Fern Mallis"), series of live interviews ("Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis") and even a off-Broadway appearance in Nora and Delia Ephron’s Love, Loss and What I Wore. Now, the industry legend is adding a jewelry collaboration with QVC to her already impressive resume.
"Fern's Finds," is based on high-end pieces Mallis has purchased during her travels through India and South Africa and costs between $35 to $79. Exact prices have not been set for each item yet, but excited customers don't have long to wait: the entire range will debut during New York Fashion Week, on the shopping network's coverage of the event.
WWD reports that the collection will include "a gold-plated filigree cuff with tourmaline, citrine and simulated diamond stones, a jhumkas necklace with chandelier-style bunches of pearls, a multistrand necklace made of simulated cornelian and resin beads and earrings lined with rows of stones and pearls."
"It’s kind of this handcrafted look," said Lisa Morrisey—the vice president of fashion merchandising at QVC—told the magazine. "The one-of-a-kind pieces give it this exotic feel. What’s wonderful about this product is, this is Fern. This is how Fern wears her fashion jewelry."
Below, we've included a preview of what's to come. Thoughts?
