Addicted: Neither a Shirt Nor a Jacket
It's heavier than a shirt, but lighter than a jacket. And when worn with my Uniqlo heat-tech goose down jacket, it's an unstoppable winter layering force. When I saw this vintage, wool shirt jacket at RRL—you might call it a shacket—I had to buy it because it looked special (it's hard to find vintage or anything like that in non-lumberjack women's sizes) even though I couldn't quite figure out how it could practically be used in daily life.
I've realized that when New York doesn't feel like the North Pole, it's kind of the best thing ever. Especially if bulky coats aren't your thing. Or if you're going to Santos Party House for a Funkmaster Flex DJ set and you don't feel like holding your coat all night. It's a very good idea to wear it there.
