Rachel Roy Launches Her First Ever High End Shoe Collection (It's Inspired by Manolo Blahnik!)

Through six seasons of Fashion Week shows, Rachel Roy worked with her friend and mentor, Manolo Blahnik, to create heels for each runway look. This year, the New York-based designer is bringing something new to the mix. Drawing on her experience with the footwear legend, she has created her own range of shoes to accompany the Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection.

The styles are inspired by Blahnik, but without compromising Rachel's vision. Everything is, "classic with a twist," she recently told WWD.

The selection will include roughly 30 items—including flats (which cost between $195 and $250), pumps ($225-$325), booties ($325-$425) and boots ($450-$600)—made with leather, suede, snake, pony hair and glitter finishes. The designer also incorporated neon accents, animal motifs, polka dots and gingham. Despite the wide variety of options, Rachel insists that all the pieces have two common themes: strength and sex appeal.

"I don’t want shoes unless they are strong and sexy. I don’t want them to be just strong or just sexy," Roy explains. "My collection is just that—strong and sexy. It represents the woman I want to be."

Everything hits stores this August, but we have a sneak peek of some of the pieces below. What do you think of Roy's first designer footwear? Will you buy something?
