Dries Van Noten's Spring Collection is Being Showcased Alongside the Art that Inspired It

A James Reeve photograph

Belgian designer Dries Van Noten's known for his innovative print-mixing, and he's got the obsessed-editor following to prove it. But for Spring 2012, fashion's master of patterns toned it down, drawing inspiration from a quietly powerful series of photographs by James Reeve.

Entitled "Lightscapes," the pictures feature urban skylines and landmarks ablaze with twinkling lights. Now, the coats, tops and skirts Van Noten screened with these prints are meeting their maker. They've been displayed alongside the photos that inspired them in galleries in Vienna, Tokyo and Hong Kong over the past two months—and now, the exhibit's arrived in Paris.

If you're lucky enough to be in the City of Lights this month, why not check out this fashion-art pairing that's all about the beauty of illumination? Reeve's showcase runs though January 25 at Joyce Gallery, 9 Rue de Valois. (Or, stop by Bergdorf Goodman in February when Dries Van Noten spring shipments arrive and buy your own piece of fashion-as-art.)
