Theyskens' Theory

Is it just us, or do Rooney and Olivier Theyskens go together like peanut butter and chocolate?

This strapless dress designed by Kate and Laura Mulleavy is just gorgeous. For best effect, we recommend that Rooney wear it as it was shown on the runway, complete with that delicate collar and gold star barrette. Why mess with a great thing?

Ralph Lauren

Sure, Rooney doesn't seem like one for golden gowns. But with this Ralph number's darker tones and body-skimming silhouette, we could totally see it being a contender.

Proenza Schouler

Before you say anything, imagine this look reworked as a floor-length gown. We love how the double-bird motif nods to the rising phoenix pictured in the opening credits of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. And yes, we've clearly seen the movie more than once.

Prabal Gurung

If Rooney feels like going the sexy route, we can't imagine a better fit than this sheer Prabal showstopper.

Monique Lhuillier

Rooney's already worn several dresses with daring cutouts during her Girl With the Dragon Tattoo press tour, so a gown like this one would be a natural fit.

Michael Kors

From the beautiful curving seams to the shimmering dark silver hue, we love pretty much everything about this metallic gown.

Relatively new label Honor's never been worn before on the Oscars red carpet, and we think Rooney's the perfect lady to take this beautiful floral dress on its maiden voyage.

While she mainly opts for dark, moody ensembles on the red carpet, Rooney's also been known to embrace a snowy white look. Decorated with a golden eagle and finished with a fluted skirt, this Marchesa has "Best Dressed" written all over it.

But in case she wants to stick with classic black, this other beauty from Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig's label has her covered.
